Windows Live goes Live
September 12, 2006 Comments:
Microsoft announced today it’s releasing its Windows live search engine to the general public after a lengthy beta test that started in March. As of today both MSN.com and Live.com are serving up the same results. Although the results look much better than before under the old MSN based engines, I have discovered some of the top money keywords are still bringing up a fair bit of spammy websites.
Take a look at this one for example for the term car insurance. I mean what on earth carforinsurance.blogspot.com, car4insurance.blogspot.com and hometown.aol.com/usacarsbest/carinsurance.html has anything to do with
relevancy to car insurance, other than the fact it’s making a boat load of money for their owners.
So, before you fall for the eye candy of related searches in the top right corner, take a closer look at the results. It’s not pretty. I am not saying every search result is this badly flawed, but the more competitive terms are certainly bringing up a lot of junk sites.
If, after 5-6 months of beta testing this is the best relevancy they can could come up with, then Google’s early demise may have to wait a little while.
