SEO News Bytes May 01, 2006 - New SERP loss theory

 

No time for panicking, it’s time to figure out what happened to our website in the Google search results. In hindsight, my post yesterday about our website’s disappearance in the Google SERPs was a bit of an over reaction to put it mildly. Although there is strong evidence pointing to the fact that SEO software developers are a less than favorite bunch in Google’s eyes, we also have to take into consideration the context our website had disappeared from the SERPs yesterday.

In fact the more time I have spent gathering some outside intelligence from SEO forums and SEO blogs the more I have realized we are not alone. In fact we have seen dozens of posts and different websites affected in very similar ways to our website in this latest Google update/glitch or whatever you want to call this.

The Google sandbox for grown ups

It had to happen eventually, our website had fallen out of Google’s grace. As of today our website trendmx.com can no longer be found under the terms “trendmx” or “trendmetrix” which is a clear indication, Google has applied some type of filter to our website’s search engine ranking.

On the same day our friends at SEO elite had also suffered the same fate, which makes us believe this is not a coincidence, but rather an editorial house cleaning on Google’s part, targeting SEO software development companies. This is not the first time websites, such as ours got the boot from Google. One of the first victims was Webposition Gold a few years ago when their entire site got removed from the Google’s index and never made it back again. Along with Webposition Gold, Webceo and Axandra, they too had been severely demoted by Google’s editorial staff. Google’s webmaster guidelines makes mention of Webposition Gold and reminds everyone not to use SEO software tools for checking their search engine ranking.
